Antenatal Clinics
These are run regularly at the practice. For more information please contact your midwife or health visitor. You need an appointment with the Midwife when you are 8 weeks pregnant.

Cervical Smears
It is government policy to invite all women between the ages of 25 and 50 to have a smear once every 3 years and every 5 years if you are between 50-64. You will be informed by letter when your next test is due. The practice nurse or the doctor can carry out the procedure.

Childhood Development
The development of pre-school children is regularly checked by the doctor and health visitors in special clinics.

Chiropody
Although chiropody referral can be made to St Martins Hospital on the NHS, the practice also offers in-house private chiropody services.

Contraception/Family Planning
A full family planning service is available from your doctor and the practice nurses, including provision of emergency contraception and coil fitting.

Counselling
Following assessment by your GP, he/she may decide that a course of counselling may be a suitable treatment for you. We have fully trained counsellors who offer cognitive therapy workshops along with counselling and consultations which can be arranged by your doctor.

Ear Syringing
If you need to have your ears syringed you should make an appointment with the Practice Nurse.  For 4-5 nights prior to your appointment you need to put warm olive oil into your ears to soften the wax.  You do not need to see the doctor.

Immunisation
Children need several immunisations starting at two months old. These prevent potentially serious illnesses such as polio, tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough, measles, mumps and rubella. We have weekly clinics for this but we may be able to offer appointments if you are unable to attend.

For further information please refer to www.immunisation.org.uk

Maternity Care
The practice provides complete care during pregnancy, birth and after delivery, in co-operation with our community midwives and the Princess Anne Wing at the Royal United Hospital. Please make an appointment with your doctor as soon as you are pregnant.

Minor Surgery
Some minor surgery is performed in the practice by your doctor. This can include shoulder joint and tennis elbow injections, removal of small moles and skin tags.

Physiotherapy
Your GP may refer you to a physiotherapist for treatment. We have initial physiotherapy assessment appointments available at the surgery and appointments can be arranged by your doctor.

Osteopath
The practice has a qualified Osteopath available three times a week, for patients and non patients of the surgery. It is a safe, effective treatment for neck pains, headaches, frozen shoulder, lower back pain, arthritis and sports injuries etc. It is a private service for adults, children and babies, which is covered by most insurance companies. It is not necessary to be referred by your Doctor.

Travel Vaccines
The Practice offers a full Travel Vaccination service offering vaccines to cover your vaccination requirements for Europe and beyond. The practice is also a registered Yellow Fever Centre. Please make an appointment with the practice nurse. For on-line travel vaccine advice go to the Fit for Travel website.

Longer appointments are necessary for travel advice, please do not use the online appointment service, you will be asked to complete a travel check list prior to your appointment. You can only be seen once this is completed, we suggest coming 10 minutes earlier for your appointment, to fill it in, or collect in person from reception before hand.
