Seeing a doctor

Seeing a doctor/primary care professional

Appointments
Patients are encouraged to see their registered doctor so that continuity of care can be maintained. However, if patients prefer, they may see any doctor.

All consultations are by appointment only.

Routine Appointments are offered morning and afternoon Monday to Friday at 10 minute intervals.

Emergency appointments are available every weekday with either a GP or through our Primary Care Nurse (PCN) service.

Emergency appointments with a GP should be used for the specific illness for which you require a same day appointment. They are at 5 minute intervals and you are requested to consult only about the emergency problem. Should you need to discuss other matters with your GP, it is recommended that you make a routine appointment at another time.

Please also remember that due to the nature of emergency appointments, individual medical cases may necessitate longer appointments which may cause delays. Thank you for your understanding.

Missed appointments waste valuable clinical time. If you are not able to make your appointment, please do call us to let us know, as we may be able to offer your appointment to another patient, even up to the last minute, though we would prefer as much notice as possible.

To book an appointment please telephone:

St James's Surgery:  01225 424733

Junction Road:  01225 422012

New patients can now make appointments online using the EMIS Access Pre-registration link found on the On-line services page.

Telephone Consultations
If you wish to speak to your doctor or the nurse, please leave a message with the receptionist before 11am. They will try to contact you later the same day. Telephone: 01225 422911

Home Visits
If you are too ill to come to surgery and require a home visit, please telephone before 10.00am. The receptionist will ask for brief details of the problem so that the doctor can assess the urgency of the case. Telephone: 01225 422911

Out Of Hours
For emergencies that occur outside of surgery opening times please call the Out of Hours Service:
Bath Emergency Medical Services (BEMS) on 01980 626226
