For patients who are genuinely too unwell to attend the surgery, or are housebound GP's are happy to visit at home.
Patients are asked to attend the surgery for an appointment wherever possible, even if it means asking a relative or friend to bring you or getting a taxi. This is because home visits are very time consuming and reduce the number of appointments we are able to offer at the surgery.
In addition, we do not have access to full medical records and equipment on home visits so care is generally better delivered in the surgery.
Children should always be brought to the surgery rather than seen at home.
If you think you may need a home visit, please call the surgery as early as possible, preferably before 10.30am.
In general, visits are done over lunchtime between 11am - 2pm.
Home visits won't apply for 'Out of area' patients. You would need to contact 111.
