Many common illnesses such as heart disease can be prevented by leading a healthy lifestyle.

bullet Participate in physical exercise several times per week.
bullet Enjoy a low fat, high fibre diet.
bullet Eat 5 portions of fruit and vegetables daily.
bullet If you smoke try to give up - help is now available from the Health Visitor run Support to Stop Smoking Clinics.
bullet If you drink alcohol do not drink in excess and have a few alcohol free days per week.
bullet Attend for any screening tests that you have been invited for e.g. cervical smear tests.
bullet Make time to enjoy hobbies and interests to help you relax and manage stress.
