GP training

General practitioner training scheme

The practice is involved in the general practice training scheme. Under this scheme, postgraduate doctors with at least three years' hospital experience will spend a year with the practice developing the skills required for general practice.

As part of their training, GP Registrars are required to video tape some of their patient consultations for assessment purposes. These remain confidential at all times. Reception will inform you at the time of booking, whether your consultation will be videoed, along with asking for your consent.

We also sometimes have medical students who spend time with us in the surgery observing GP work. As trainee doctors, the students are bound by the same confidentiality rules as all members of the Health Care team.
